What to do after being accepted

 

NCCU processes applications twice each year. Check the acceptance deadlines in the application guidance materials.

 

1. Required Documents Checklist: 

Registration Form

  • Online Registration System 

(1) Chinese name: Traditional Chinese characters ONLY. NO romanizations or simplified Chinese characters. For Chinese name assistance, please contact the OIC (intladm@nccu.edu.tw).
(2) Highest academic degree: graduation year, school name, degree, and major correctly.

(3) Upload photo: Standard passport-style headshot, used for your student ID card.
(4) On-campus dormitory application: Before applying, please read the dorm introduction thoroughly.  
(5) Taiwan Scholarship: TaiwanICDF Scholarship is NOT Taiwan Scholarship. If you are still waiting for the Taiwan Scholarship results, please select “No.”
(6) Ensure the correctness of all information before submitting. Once submitted, no changes can be made.


B.  PHOTOCOPIES of your educational documents verified by relevant authorities

1.  If unable to secure document verification before the acceptance deadline, you must provide verification before the beginning of Spring/Fall semester. 

­­­2. Verified diploma and full academic transcripts

 

(1) For degrees conferred by schools in Taiwan, TECRO verification is not required.

 

(2) For degrees conferred by foreign schools (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China): Diplomas and transcripts must be verified by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office for the country in which the degree-issuing school is located. If the original documents are in a language other than Chinese or English, you must supply a Chinese or English translation which must also be verified by TECRO.

In the event that TECRO does not maintain an office in the relevant country, you must submit the documentation for verification at the TECRO office which has jurisdiction for that country.

 

(3) For degrees conferred by Ministry of Education approved schools in Hong Kong or Macau: Please follow the “Academic Credential Verification and Accreditation Methods adopted in Hong Kong and Macao” for instructions in regard to required documents.

(4) For degrees conferred by MOE-approved schools in mainland China, please follow the “Regulations Governing the Accreditation of Schools in Mainland China” for instructions in regard to the required documents.

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree or above obtained MOE-approved schools in mainland China are also required to submit the certificate of degree conferral.

(5) When submitting original documents to TERCO for verification, submit a full photocopy for each document which requires verification. The photocopy will be verified and stamped for use in your application, and the original will be returned to you. 



 
3. Campus Housing Applications


NCCU accommodations are only available for individual students. Students seeking couple or family housing should seek off-campus housing.

 

On-campus accommodation for newly arriving students is arranged by the Student Housing Service Office. Undergraduate housing is four per unit, while master’s and doctoral students respectively may select double and single accommodation.

(All inquiries and arrangements are handled by email, with one-year rental contracts lasting from September 1st to August 31st the following year. Students moving out of off-campus housing prior to the end of the contract will be liable for the remainder of the term unless they find an acceptable replacement to take his/her place.

5. Visa

  • Prior to arrival in Taiwan, international DEGREE students must apply for a resident (student) visa through the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in their country. Foreign nationals who intend to stay in Taiwan for more than 180 days should apply for a resident visa.

  • International NON-DEGREE students are not eligible for student visas. Please contact your nearest TECRO regarding your visa application.
  • For additional visa questions please contact your nearest Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office or the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) is your identity card in Taiwan. Foreigner nationals in Taiwan on a resident visa or in the process of switching to a resident visa should apply for an ARC within 15 days of arrival or from the issuance of their resident visa in Taiwan. Late applications will incur fines of NTD2,000-10,000. For more information, please visit ARC.
  • Resident visa applications require a health check which is separate from that required for admission to NCCU.
