Newly Admitted Checklist

Congratulations on your admission to National Chengchi University! The Office of International Cooperation (OIC) is here to help you get ready to come to Taiwan and NCCU, and we’ve prepared this handy checklist to help you stay organized. We’re all looking forward to meeting you at the International Student Orientation and Registration.

Resident Visa and Alien Resident Certificate(ARC)

Resident Visa
Foreign students enrolling in degree programs at NCCU should apply for a resident (student) visa at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in their home country.
For more information: Resident visa

ARC

Your Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) is your identification card in Taiwan. If you arrive in Taiwan on a resident visa or change from a visitor to a resident visa after arrival, you must apply for your ARC at the National Immigration Agency service center within 30 days* of your arrival in Taiwan or your visa change. Apply using the National Immigration Agency’s (NIA) Students Online Application System. Late applications will incur a fine of NTD$ 2,000-10,000 (roughly USD60-300 USD).

Overseas Medical and Injury Insurance

Taiwan offers universal health coverage under its National Health Insurance (NHI) program, but incoming students are not eligible for coverage until they have been in Taiwan for at least six months. Therefore, you must purchase at least six months of overseas medical and injury insurance coverage prior to leaving your home country. Proof of insurance must be presented at the OIC One-Stop Registration on Sep.2nd. If such proof cannot be provided, you will be required to purchase group medical insurance through the OIC (contact Ms. Alison Ho at OIC office).

Foreign Degree Verification

As part of the application process, you will need to submit your school diplomas and transcripts. Unless these documents are issued by schools in Taiwan, they must be verified by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the country in which the documents were issued. If the original documents are not in English or Chinese, they must be translated into English or Chinese, and the translations must also be verified by TECRO. You will not be allowed to complete registration without such verification.

Health Examination

All incoming students are required to complete a standardized health examination at the start of their first semester. The examination can be conducted at the NCCU health clinic for a minimal fee.

Undergraduate Students: Sep.8th
